No boxes and bags scattered underneath. It's an unusual Christmas this year. And yet, I can find no trace of disappointment in this place. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto; line-height:18.75pt;background:white"&gt;&lt;span style="color:#333333;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt;Home is cold and the rooms feel empty. There's snow on the ground, but I think it may have rained overnight because there are hundreds of craters that disrupt the perfection. As I look again I notice that they look more like waves, which is appropriate since those onboard this ship are experiencing a storm.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto; line-height:18.75pt;background:white"&gt;&lt;span style="color:#333333;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt;As a family we chose to set a new culture for our Christmas celebration this year. We had to strip away the layers that were covering the central meaning of Christmas in order to remember well. It's Jesus' birthday today.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto; line-height:18.75pt;background:white"&gt;&lt;span style="color:#333333;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt;So instead of buying each other things that we don't need with money we don't have on someone&lt;/span&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt; else&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt;'s birthday, we've decided as a family that we're going to spend it in praise. Praise to the God who sticks around even though we&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="apple-converted-space"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt;suck. He performed the greatest act of love by coming down to this cruddy earth full of sin and paper cuts and worms and cilantro (just kidding, I'm beginning to like cilantro). And He came down to save us.
